Oregon Ducks Rally to Defeat Wisconsin Badgers 16-13 in Madison
Madison, WI – In a thrilling college football showdown, the top-ranked Oregon Ducks overcame a fourth-quarter deficit to defeat the Wisconsin Badgers 16-13 on Saturday night, extending their perfect record to 11-0. Despite trailing 13-6 as the final quarter began, Oregon demonstrated resilience in front of the raucous home crowd as they capitalized on key moments to secure the victory.
Oregon coach Dan Lanning noted the significance of the traditional "Jump Around" song that plays at the end of the third quarter, stating, “When you hear that song, it means it’s time to go.” The Ducks responded to the electrifying atmosphere, starting their comeback with a critical 15-yard completion from quarterback Dillon Gabriel to Terrance Ferguson, which set up a game-tying touchdown run by Jordan James.
With just over two minutes remaining, Atticus Sappington kicked a 24-yard field goal to give Oregon the lead at 16-13. Wisconsin, whose struggles against Top 25 teams continue, fell to 5-5 with this loss. The Badgers, under coach Luke Fickell, are now 2-15 against ranked teams in their last 17 outings. Fickell remarked, “They did everything we asked them to do… we just have to find a way to be able to finish.”
Oregon’s defense played a crucial role, shutting down Wisconsin’s offense in the second half, allowing the Ducks to maintain their top spot in the College Football Playoff standings. Gabriel, despite not scoring a touchdown, praised his teammates for their efforts and adaptability throughout the game. With the victory, Oregon heads into a bye week before facing Washington on November 30, while Wisconsin prepares for a matchup against Nebraska on November 23.
