Wisconsin Union Introduces Plush Terrace Chair at Badger Markets

Wisconsin Union Unveils First Plushie Inspired by Iconic Terrace Chairs

MADISON, Wis. – In a delightful twist on a beloved campus tradition, the Wisconsin Union introduced its inaugural terrace-chair plushie, named Maple Fields, available at Badger Markets starting this past Friday. This charming plushie draws inspiration from the iconic John Deere green terrace chairs, a staple of the Memorial Union’s scenic lakeside.

Named to honor Wisconsin’s rich agricultural heritage and the state tree, the sugar maple, the Maple Fields plushie aims to create a new way for the UW-Madison community to connect with the cherished experiences shared at the Terrace. "We are so excited to bring a Terrace chairling to life in plushie form and to give our community a new way to connect to good times at the Terrace," expressed Ben Klepzig, the integrated marketing and communications director of the Wisconsin Union.

The concept for the plushie originated from UW-Madison student and graphic design intern Emily Swanson, showcasing the creativity and industry involvement of students on campus. Notably, the plushies are not only a fun novelty but also serve a greater purpose. Proceeds from the sales will support the nonprofit Wisconsin Union’s mission to provide free and low-cost events, foster community gathering spaces, and create leadership opportunities for students.

The Maple Fields plushie represents a fresh addition to the Union’s offerings, inviting both current students and alumni to reminisce about their time at the Terrace while contributing to a meaningful cause. Those interested can find the plushie at Badger Markets in both Memorial Union and Union South.
