Country singer Sundance Head, the winner of Season 11 of ‘The Voice,’ was injured by a stray bullet at his ranch in Texas. The 46-year-old singer was taken to a hospital in Tyler after being stabilized. The bullet lodged in a non-vital area of his stomach, and surgery was not needed. Head’s wife, Misty, provided updates on his condition, stating that the bullet missed all vital organs and would not be removed. The incident is believed to have been caused by a nearby hunter’s errant gunfire, according to Head’s agent.
Head, who was coached by Blake Shelton on ‘The Voice,’ has released four albums in his career and returned to the show for Shelton’s send-off last year. Despite being the son of noted musician Roy Head, Sundance Head did not find success in music until he was 33. Prior to winning ‘The Voice,’ he had struggled to advance past the semifinals on ‘American Idol.’
The Smith County Sheriff’s Office has yet to provide further details on the incident. Head’s fans and supporters have been urged to offer prayers for his recovery. Head posted a photo on social media from his ranch, indicating that he was grateful to wake up to another day. The singer’s agent is awaiting more information on the accident but stated that it was not self-inflicted.
