Police report: Woman in Florida uses fraudulent hurricane aid claim, blames botox for appearance of youth

A 44-year-old Florida woman, Veronica Torres, was charged with filing a false public assistance claim after using her mother’s identity to apply for hurricane aid and receiving almost $8,000. Torres claimed she had to move out of her home due to hurricane damage. When she went to pick up the check, a city employee noticed she looked much younger and challenged her explanation of botox treatments. Torres was asked to return the next day and was subsequently arrested by the Bradenton Police Department. It is unclear if she has an attorney representing her. Bradenton, a city north of Sarasota, was affected by Hurricane Helene in September and Hurricane Milton in October. Torres is currently free on $2,500 bond.
