Earlier on the same day, Trump appointed Steven Cheung as his incoming director of communications. Cheung previously held that role during Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. Leavitt’s appointment as press secretary reflects Trump’s continued loyalty to those who have been involved in his campaigns and administration.
