A former Disney employee named Michael Scheuer is being accused of hacking into menu-creating software used by the company’s restaurants after being terminated from his position as a menu production manager. Scheuer allegedly made changes to menu prices, added profanity, and altered allergen information to falsely indicate that certain food items did not contain peanuts, which could be harmful to people with peanut allergies. Federal agents searched Scheuer’s home and seized four personal computers. Scheuer denied any wrongdoing and accused Disney of trying to frame him. His attorney stated that no one was harmed by the actions and that Scheuer has a disability that may have impacted his termination. The lawsuit also mentions that Scheuer continued to access the software from a personal device after being fired, although he claimed it was for personal matters such as accessing paystubs and financial information. Disney did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Despite the accusations, Scheuer’s attorney emphasized that they look forward to presenting his side of the story and addressing the allegations.
