ALLETE Clean Energy, a subsidiary of ALLETE Inc., announced the sale of the Whitetail wind project in Wisconsin to Invenergy. The project, acquired in 2021, will be constructed and sold to WEC Energy Group utilities We Energies, WPS, and MGE. The 70-megawatt project will consist of up to 21 turbines and will be located in Grant County. ALLETE Clean Energy’s president, Nicole Johnson, stated that the project was developed to deliver cost-effective clean energy and contribute to a more sustainable energy grid in the Midwest. Invenergy will complete the development and construction of the project and provide maintenance services. In 2023, ALLETE Clean Energy sold the adjacent Red Barn wind project to WPS and MGE as well.
