Trump and Harris enlist Wisconsin sports figures for campaign support in the state

Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are both turning to Wisconsin sports teams for campaign support. Trump is set to rally with former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre, who has publicly endorsed him multiple times. Favre has recently announced that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and has been connected to a welfare scandal, although he denies any wrongdoing.

On the other hand, the Harris campaign will have Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers campaigning alongside second gentleman Doug Emhoff. They will use a new ad in the Milwaukee TV market to highlight Trump’s negative comments about the city and his unfulfilled promises regarding the Foxconn deal. The Foxconn deal, a manufacturing facility that was supposed to be built in Wisconsin with significant tax credits, never came to fruition.

President Joe Biden recently visited the site of the proposed Foxconn plant and announced that Microsoft would be taking it over, calling it a “comeback story.” Harris will also host a “Get out the Vote” rally in Madison featuring musical artists Gracie Abrams and Mumford and Sons.

Both campaigns are leaning into the popularity of Wisconsin sports figures to garner support for their campaigns in the upcoming election.
