Tennessee officials are searching for Nicholas Wayne Hamlett, who is wanted for murder after falsely claiming to be a distressed hiker who fell off a cliff while running from a bear. The initial call led authorities to discover a dead body with stolen identification belonging to Brandon Kristopher Andrade. It was later determined that the deceased man was not Andrade, but rather a victim of identity theft by Hamlett. Hamlett, who is wanted for a parole violation in Alabama, used a false name when speaking with law enforcement in Tennessee before fleeing. An arrest warrant has been issued for him for first-degree murder in Monroe County. The deceased man has not yet been identified, and a sketch is being developed by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Multiple agencies are working to locate Hamlett, who is considered armed and dangerous and known to use aliases. Anyone with information on Hamlett or the deceased man is asked to call 911 or Monroe County Dispatch.
