Colin Farrell ran the Irish Life Dublin Marathon to raise funds for DEBRA, a charity supporting people with the rare skin condition epidermolysis bullosa (EB). He pushed his friend Emma Fogarty, who has EB, in a wheelchair for the final 4 kilometers of the race. Fogarty, who is Ireland’s oldest surviving person with the condition, can develop painful blisters from the slightest touch due to the lack of essential proteins that bind the skin’s layers together. Originally aiming to raise €400,000, Farrell and Fogarty now hope to reach €1 million for DEBRA. At 40 years old, Fogarty has surpassed expectations, as most individuals with her type of EB do not live past age 35. Farrell pushed Fogarty 1 kilometer for every decade of her life, finishing the 26-mile race in just over 4 hours. Their journey was celebrated on Ireland’s “The Late Late Show,” where Fogarty expressed her gratitude for having Farrell by her side. With photos showing the actor beaming while pushing Fogarty, the duo’s efforts have brought them close to their fundraising goal.
