Latest data shows stable jobless figure in the Eurozone

The latest data on EU and Eurozone unemployment rates show stability in the job market, with the eurozone unemployment rate remaining at 6.4% in June, July, and August. This is a 0.2% decrease from August last year. Greece, Spain, and Sweden have the highest rates of unemployment within the eurozone.

In August 2024, the EU unemployment rate stood at 5.9%, with over 13 million people without jobs across the bloc. This is a slight improvement from the previous months. Spain, Greece, and Sweden continue to struggle with high unemployment rates compared to other countries within the eurozone.

Youth unemployment remains a concern, with over 2.7 million individuals under the age of 25 unemployed in the EU, making up 14.3% of the total unemployed population. However, there has been a decrease in youth unemployment compared to the previous year.

Germany has the lowest youth unemployment rate at 6.8%, followed by Malta and the Netherlands at 8.9% each. Additionally, there are more women than men unemployed in the EU, with women experiencing higher unemployment rates in countries like Greece, Spain, and Sweden.

Overall, while there have been slight improvements in the job market, challenges remain in reducing unemployment rates across the eurozone, especially among the youth population and women.
