Former employee’s attorney claims Vince McMahon responsible for WWE’s ‘culture of corruption’

A six-part documentary titled “Mr. McMahon” on Netflix details the rise and fall of Vince McMahon, the head of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). The series includes interviews with McMahon and addresses controversies surrounding his career, including allegations of sex trafficking made by former WWE employee Janel Grant. Grant, who did not participate in the documentary, accused McMahon of forcing her into a sexual relationship in exchange for a job. Her attorney, Ann Callis, mentioned that Grant has not watched the series as she feels the need to tell her story in her own way.

The documentary also mentions other allegations against McMahon and WWE, including accusations of sexual assault in 1986 by former WWE referee Rita Chatterton. McMahon has denied the accusations and criticized the editing of the documentary as supporting a deceptive narrative. He has urged viewers to remember that there are two sides to every story.

Grant’s lawsuit against McMahon was paused in May pending a federal investigation by the Southern District of New York, which served McMahon with a federal grand jury subpoena and executed a search warrant. Callis’s law firm is investigating other potential claims against McMahon and WWE and characterizes the wrestling organization as having a culture of corruption and victimization of women. The series also showcases other WWE superstars such as Hulk Hogan, John Cena, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
