Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert reaggravated his high-ankle sprain during the team’s 20-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Herbert had been sidelined in practice leading up to the game due to the injury. Despite scoring a touchdown early in the game, Herbert only completed 12 of 18 passes for 125 yards before leaving the game in the third quarter. The Chargers struggled to generate offense, managing only a field goal in the first half and no more points thereafter. The ground game was also ineffective, gaining just 61 yards on 20 carries.
Herbert, who had previously injured his right ankle in Week 2, limped off the field after being sacked and was later seen leaving the stadium in a walking boot. Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh had planned to remove Herbert from the game if he showed any sign of a limp. The loss dropped the Chargers to a 2-1 record, their first defeat of the season, while the Pittsburgh Steelers improved to 3-0. Herbert’s status for future games remains uncertain as the team monitors his injury.
