Two radio station hosts received questions from the Biden campaign ahead of interviews with the president following his debate performance. Earl Ingram from WMCS in Wisconsin and Andrea Lawful-Sanders from WURD in Philadelphia said they were sent suggestions but not pressured to use them. The questions covered timely topics such as Biden’s accomplishments and major campaign issues. Both hosts approved and used most of the questions during their interviews with Biden. Despite having some questions known to him, Biden gave a strange answer about his accomplishments. The Biden campaign stated that sharing questions ahead of time is not uncommon and hosts are free to ask whatever they like. Polls show Trump widening his lead over Biden post-debate. Additionally, some Democratic lawmakers have openly called for Biden to step aside, but potential replacements do not fare any better against Trump in polls. California Governor Gavin Newsom and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer have pledged their support for Biden as the nominee. Michelle Obama is the only potential replacement who leads Trump by double digits in the polls. Despite some uncertainty, the interviews provided Americans with the opportunity to see Biden in unscripted situations following the debate.
