Luke Hagel from Random Lake leads Wisconsin’s scoring rankings

Luke Hagel, a former high school football player at Random Lake High School, holds the Wisconsin state record for career point scored in football. Hagel scored 802 points during his three-year varsity career, mainly playing as a running back and a kicker. His record is 140 points higher than second place, making it a challenging record to beat due to its consistency over the years. Hagel credits his soccer background for his kicking skills and ability to navigate a ball.

Despite facing some injuries and starting his varsity career late, Hagel’s record-setting seasons came in 1997 and 1998 when he scored over 300 points each season. He later went on to be a successful two-sport athlete in college, ranking sixth in rushing touchdowns and seventh in rushing yards at Ripon College.

Breaking Hagel’s record would require extraordinary consistency and performance, averaging over 22 points per game for a three-year varsity career. Playing multiple positions that can score points, such as kicker, would increase the chances of breaking the record. However, the difficulty lies in the fact that only two players in the top 20 career scoring list were kickers.

Hagel, along with coaches and experts, believe that his record will be hard to break due to the unique combination of skills and positions he held. Despite this, Hagel remains open to the possibility of his record being surpassed in the future.
